Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals

The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) is a fellowship funded by the German Bundestag and U.S. Congress, that annually provides 75 American and 75 German young professionals the opportunity to spend one year in each others’ countries, studying, interning, and living with hosts on a cultural immersion program.


The CBYX program is sponsored in the United States. by the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, under the authority of the Fulbright-Hays Act of 1961, as amended.


Cultural Vistas has administered CBYX for Young Professionals for over 30 years, together with its German partner organization, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit.

The Language Project

Ames Christian is seeking a part-time Spanish instructor.  They are also hiring a part-time appointment at Ankeny Christian.  See below for full details and contact information.

The Language Project is seeking a self-motivated teacher to join a team of goal driven individuals. This teacher will spend 2-5 days/week (1-3 hours/day) teaching preschool and/or elementary and middle school students Spanish on site at the school and as afterschool clubs.


Objective: It is TLP’s goal for teachers to be trained in the Natural Approach and play-based methodology used in our Language Immersion programs so they can conduct Language Immersion clubs using The Language Project’s proven effective teaching methods.



  1. Complete all teacher training modules and attend summer training programs
  2. Teach or Assist in TLP classrooms in Des Moines, IA
  3. Interns will be lead teachers on days when the lead teacher has to be absent.
  4. TLP Summer Immersion Sports Camp
  5. Duties as assigned


Required Training Dates

  • TBA


Interns will be paid bi-weekly $10.00/classroom hour. Instructors will be paid $20/classroom hour. There will be an average of 2-4 hours a week. Interns and instructors with TLP have an opportunity to continue their growth in the company following a summer of training and meeting the standards of the company laid out for them in their Employee Packet.


Where to Report:

Interns and instructors will receive a weekly schedule of where to report, when and for how long.


What is required?

  1. Great attitude! We are a team, we operate as a team, and we work hard together!
  2. Teachers must be fluent in Spanish and English.
  3. Ability to lift 20 lbs.
  4. Basic computer skills- work in Word and Google Docs will be common
  5. Legal ability to work with children: we require a back ground check.
  6. Home or laptop computer- not required but preferred.
  7. Ability to have internet access- at home or public wifi.
  8. Flexibility- we all wear many hats each day. Teachers should be able to handle themselves properly in each situation.
  9. Ability to respectfully and eagerly work with people from all backgrounds and cultures.
