Bio

My name is Elizabeth Zimmerman (she/her), and I am one of the academic advisors in the World Languages & Cultures department. I have been advising at Iowa State for nearly 13 years in a variety of majors and programs. I graduated from Iowa State in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in English (Literature and Creative Writing) and then in 2010 with a master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: World Cinema. While in graduate school I helped teach several Iowa State courses: Globalization and the Human Condition (ANTHR 2300) and History of Rock ‘n’ Roll (MUSIC 3040). I also have training in Mental Health First Aid and First Aid CPR/AED.

Outside of work I am a musician constantly inspired by art, culture, film, and nature and my musical influences/styles range from jazz and soul to folk and rock. I have produced five albums of original music, a holiday album, and hope to produce a children’s album in the near future.

Contact Elizabeth about the following programs: Chinese Studies, English, German (General and LCP), International Studies, Performing Arts, Russian Studies, Scientific Illustration and Visualization, and World Film Studies.
