Bio
My name is Alex Cullison (he/him), and I am one of the academic advisors for the World Languages & Cultures department. I graduated from Beloit College in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Modern Languages (French, German, and Wolof). My experiences as a first-generation and low-income student and participant in the TRIO-Student Support Services and McNair Scholars programs motivated me to pursue work where I could support students and help them navigate the higher education system.
After serving for a year as an AmeriCorps College Success Coach at DMACC, I came to Iowa State for the graduate program in Anthropology. I completed my master’s degree in December 2023 with my thesis focusing on the relationship between nationalism and political organizing in Iowa. I am excited to continue working at Iowa State and helping WLC students succeed!
