Bio
Dr. George Archer (he/him) of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies specializes in Quranic Studies and Late Antique Islam. He is the editor of the Routledge Companion to the Quran and associate editor for the Encyclopaedia of the Quran Online. He is the author of A Place Between Two Places: The Quranic Barzakh which was awarded World Book of the Year by the People’s Republic of Iran in 2019. Dr. Archer is presently working on a major study of oral and semi-literate culture in early Islam.
