Bio
Dr. Alameen is an Associate Teaching Professor of Arabic and the coordinator of the Arabic program at Iowa State. She received her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Technology from Iowa State University. She teaches all levels of undergraduate Arabic courses, including courses on Arab culture and literature. Before her current position, she taught Linguistics and ESL at Iowa State and Homs University, Syria. She has also taught Arabic in Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy.
Dr. Alameen’s primary research interests are: connected speech, integrating technology in teaching listening and pronunciation, and developing online and hybrid courses for language learners. She also developed online courses with original content, such as ‘French in Quebec.’ Dr. Alameen is the advisor of the Arab Student Association at Iowa State University.
